Query del.icio.us with Greasemonkey

I just finished a little Greasemonkey script that supports querying del.icio.us bookmarks from any machine by pressing a hotkey.

The script displays a JavaScript prompt box. You enter a del.icio.us tag, click "Ok", and you're whisked away to the del.icio.us page containing all of the bookmarks for that tag. In addition to querying globally by tag name, the script also supports querying your user space by tag name. This is done by prefixing your query with the string "me:".

If you'd like to install this script. . .

If you don't care about querying your user-space directly install the script here, otherwise use the following list.

  1. Download the script to your computer: del.icio.us Prompt Search
  2. Open the script in a text editor and change the value of the 'userName' variable to be your del.icio.us user name.
  3. Open your edited version of the script in firefox.
  4. From the "Tools" menu select "Install User Script. . .".
  5. Open up a new page and try it out.

See a demo of the script in action, or, if you're not into the postponement of gratification, click the button below to give it a test run from here.

I've noticed that amazon is rolling out a new menuing widget. (I've only seen the new menu UI in the evening using my iBook, so it appears as though it may be some sort of random beta-testing rollout.) Instead of a bunch of top-level tabs there's a new tab labeled "See All 31 Product Categories". Mousing over this tab causes an animated menu to popup that displays all 31 product categories. When an item from the popup menu is selected a new top-level tab is displayed. Overall, I like the new menu style, it's a nice change of pace. It's refreshing to see "fat" web-based interface functionality becoming more mainstream.

Try changing the access code to this:

var yourAccessKeyCode = 192; // `

Is there any way to change the activation key? I tried switching the key in the script but it wasn't responding after I installed the edited script. I was wondering if it could be a key that I rarely ever press. Maybe ` under the tild? Is that even possible?
